Disclaimer - Risk Disclosure Statement
Trading or holding art for investment carries a high level of risk, and may not be suitable for all investors. The high degree of price fluctuation and the difficulty in assessing the true value of a piece of art can work against you as well as for you. Art prices can be more volatile than traditional investment tools and the associated fees can be higher. Before deciding to invest in art you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial investment and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose. You should be aware of all the risks associated with art as an investment tool, and seek advice from both an independent financial advisor and a third party art expert if you have any doubts.
Art Trading
Board of Investment Art (BOIA) allows its registered users to purchase art directly from artists or to buy and sell pieces from other registered users. You may possibly pay more for a piece of art than the previous buyer paid a short time ago or you may not be able to sell a piece for a price at or higher than what you paid. You may not find a buyer for a particular piece of art. We at BOIA believe that art maintains both an intrinsic cultural value as well as a monetary value and urge you to consider the relative values of each before making a purchase decision.
Fees
BOIA receives a percentage of the purchase price of any art purchase made on our website. These fees can vary, so be sure to read our respective buyer’s and seller’s agreements.
Market Opinions of Our Staff
Opinions expressed by our company's representatives regarding the prices of specific pieces or the trend of the art market in general do not necessarily represent the opinion of BOIA, and are not guaranteed in any way. In no event shall BOIA be held liable for losses incurred in connection with any decision made by any party based on information provided verbally or via the internet by our staff, or any delays, inaccuracies, errors, or omissions in such information.
Art Value Estimations
BOIA pays independent and qualified art experts a fee to evaluate and appraise individual pieces of art. The backgrounds and affiliations of these individuals are noted in FAQ's section of our website. These appraisals are meant as a third party estimate of the value of a piece of art and represent only the opinion of the Appraiser. Appraisers are not permitted to recommend artists or art to BOIA, however we strongly recommend that you consult with an appraiser or art expert of your own choosing before investing in any art.

The materials presented on this website are solely for informational purposes. No offer or solicitation to buy or sell art, or any type of investment or trading advice or strategy, is made, given or in any manner endorsed by BOIA or its affiliates. You are fully responsible for any investment or trading decisions you make, and such decisions should be based solely on your evaluation of your financial circumstances, investment or trading objectives, risk tolerance and liquidity needs.

Internet Trading Risks
There are risks associated with utilizing an internet-based deal execution trading system including, but not limited to, hardware malfunction, software failure, and internet connection problems. Because BOIA does not control signal power, reception or routing via internet, the configuration of your equipment or the reliability of its connection, we cannot be responsible for communication failures, distortions or delays you may experience while trading via the internet.
Market Risks
Trading art is no less risky than trading any other commodity. Market conditions can become extraordinarily volatile and may make it impossible for you to buy or sell a piece of art and avoid a loss. All positions involve risk, and various buying or selling strategies do not necessarily limit or remove the risk for loss.
Exchange Rate Fluctuations
Exchange rates between foreign currencies can change rapidly due to a variety of economic and political events.

Disclosure Regarding Bankruptcy Protections
The transactions you are entering into with BOIA are not traded on an exchange. Therefore, under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, your funds may not receive the same protections as funds used to invest in other commodities including futures and options contracts, which receive a priority in bankruptcy. Since that same priority has not been given to funds used for non-exchange investing, if BOIA becomes insolvent and you have a claim for amounts deposited or profits earned on transactions with BOIA, your claim may not receive a priority. Without a priority, you are a general creditor and your claim will be paid, along with the claims of other general creditors, from any monies still available after priority claims are paid. Even customer, client, and/or artist funds that BOIA keeps separate from its own operating funds may not be safe from the claims of other general and priority creditors.
